Background of some problems in the intake system

Feb 25, 2021

How is carbon deposition on the intake system formed? What kind of engine failure will it cause?

The fuel is directly injected into the intake valve by the nozzle, forming carbon deposit under high temperature. The carbon deposits on the intake manifold and the intake valve absorb the fuel before it enters the combustion chamber, which makes the fuel scarcer and the intake valve looser to close, leading to stall or wheezing.

How is the deposit in the throttle and idle control valve formed?

Air carrying dust and other impurities sticks to it and builds up (including engine crankcase exhaust).

How does excess sediment in the throttle idle control valve affect engine operation?

The carbon deposits in the intake system will reduce the air flow and destroy the critical air-fuel ratio, resulting in poor idling speed, power decline, increased fuel consumption, increased emissions and other problems.

Solution: Clean the intake system every 20,000km.
